When thinking about canyons, Canyon de Sumidero is different from the Grand Arizona. What makes Canyon de Sumidero different is while the latter is in a desert, Canyon de Sumidero is full of greenery, water, and wildlife.

Canyon de Sumidero is in Chiapas State, Southeast Mexico. Canyon de Sumidero begins near Chiapa de Corzo, stretches for 35km. Canyon de Sumidero finally ends at the reservoir of the Chicoasn hydroelectric dam.

Canyon de Sumidero can be visited by boat or driving along the miradores at the top of the cliffs surrounding it. We opted to join a boat trip at the Cahuar embarcadero. We were quite fortunate that a number of people turned up shortly after us, so we didn’t need to wait for long for the boat to fill. After putting on our life vests we were ready to go to Sumidero Canyon!

The boatman took us to some of the interesting spots along Sumidero Canyon. The first one was the Cueva de Colores (Colours Cave), a small cave which has some interesting pinkish colours on the ceiling and a small statue of Virgin of Guadalupe. Later, toward the middle of the boat trip to Sumidero Canyon, we arrived at the highest point of Sumidero Canyon, a cliff that reaches nearly 1000m, where the mountains from both sides of the river create an impressive gate full of life surrounded by nature.

My favourite spot in Canyon de Sumidero was a curious formation called the Christmas Tree. During the rainy season it becomes a waterfall, but during the winter, when the rain is not so abundant in Canyon de Sumidero, an interesting formation is created covered with moss that resembles a Christmas Tree. It was quite a coincidence to be in Canyon de Sumidero during Christmas season to contemplate this interesting sight.

After an hour, we arrived at the end of the Canyon de Sumidero, where the river meets the Chicoasn dam. On the way back from Canyon de Sumidero we tried to spot spider monkeys, birds and crocodiles. We were fortunate to see them all in Canyon de Sumidero.

If you decide to drive on the roads of France, do not forget to take with you the papers that should be provided when a check is conducted by the police as it is customary on the part of the French police to conduct immediate checks to ensure that everything is perfect law-wise in driving.

If police in France ask you to show the documents for verification while driving on the roads of France, you may show these documents : driving license, documents related to the ownership of the car you are driving, an official ID card and of course insurance documents. The police are strict due to the crime of car theft is on the rise in France.

The ID card must be a national ID card or a passport. Most foreign driving licenses are recognized in France for up to one year of your arrival in the country. Card ownership papers are called cart gris in French which means grey car, while insurance papers are called cart vert, or green card.

Make sure you get both of these from the former owner if you’re buying a pre-owned car in France. Anyone caught driving in France without these papers is accountable to an on the spot fine at the preference of the police officer involved.

Keep Photocopies of these car related papers and never place them anywhere in the car so that they could be found by others. This is due to the fact that the thefts related to car are ever growing in France and take care not to fall a prey to these thefts. Besides you should not be held by the police in France.

While driving in France, remember that you are outside your own country and the rules certainly are dissimilar. For example it is a traffic error in France if you turn right at red light, while it is legal in the US. Otherwise it should be a pleasant experience for the drivers on the roads of France.

Drivers from your right are given priority and awareness about it is necessary while driving in France. The sizes of the two roads and T junctions are not considered in this matter. There is an expectation of slowing down the speed and hence as a matter of fact French drivers convert smaller paths into busy main roads. On traffic circles definitely, priority is given to the one already on the circle.

50km p/h is the speed limit permitted in the built up roads of France. Never exceed this limit and decelerate further when you are going through busy roads. A white sign with red borders showing the name of the place in black informs that you are entering a built up area. Similarly you can increase the speed once you leave the built up area indicated by the same sign with a red diagonal line.

The driving limit on auto routes, which are the biggest motorways in France, is 130 km p/h. Otherwise the driving limit is 110km p/h on dual carriageways while it’s 90km p/h on smaller district roads.Unfortunately speed limits in France are rarely posted on the roads so you have to be alert to these by yourself.

Motorway driving in France is on the whole a pleasant experience. If you are hesitant then you may want to look into alternative means like Train Travel in France.

Many recent developments have helped this city to become a modern Xian. With a history dating back 3100 years ago it is the oldest city in China. At one time it was the capital of the prominent Chinese dynasty of Tang and Han. In the countries attempt to revive its economic status Xian has played an important part in their educational, cultural and industrial fields. Many facilities are located in the city for the development of space exploration, national security and research.

This city is a popular tourist destination with its multitude of historical sites. To help the tourism business it had to develop better transportation systems. There is currently a project underway to build a subway web having four lines and a total length of 144 kilometers. The two main lines will cost 17,950 million yuan. Line 2 is scheduled to be operational first they started that project in September of 2006 and intend to have it completed in 2011. Line 1 is currently on schedule and will be completed in 2013.

This subway system will have unique characteristics familiar to this region. As with all international metropolises this is the norm. The Xian subway plans on showing paintings featuring Xian and cultural relics. It will be a social gathering place.

The Xian Xianyang International Airport opened at the end of 2007. It shows the pace that China is striving to maintain to surpass other countries in the aviation industry. It covers an area equivalent to 1,393 acres. It is unlike any other international airport in that it provides a refreshing openness. The normal annual passenger throughput surpasses 11.5 million.

Another important project for China is its high-speed rail system. It currently has over 1800 miles of service routes and is working on a project to create a total network of 31,059 miles by 2020. This high speed rail system once completed will be the most sophisticated in the world. It will cost the country $300 billion dollars by the time it is complete. These trains will reach speeds of 220 miles per hour.

This project is part of China’s stimulus package and is destined to support the economy’s growth. The steel industry has increased production up to 20 percent since the beginning of the project. The rails and cement buttresses are needed in mass quantities. Due to the global decline many people within the country were losing their jobs and now they have found work on this project.

The Xian Aerospace Science and Technology Industrial Base was created to focus on creating new energies, satellites and civil applications pertaining to IT and other technologies. The Xian National Civil Aerospace Industrial Base was constructed to concentrate on software and service outsourcing, new materials, equipment manufacturing and solar photovoltaic.

China’s 3G standard and their Wireless standard originated in modern Xian. It leads the way in training engineers having numerous universities in the region. It was instrumental in implementing outsourcing services and has grown substantially in the last few years. It leads the way in the software industry for China creating revenues exceeding $42 million in exports.

France owns some of the biggest and best ski resorts in Europe and probably the world. Among France’s skiing claims to fame is the fact that the world’s biggest skiing area is in France; Les Portes Du Soleil situated in Morzine-Avoriaz north west of Chamonix.

The ski resort close by Bourge Saint Maurice is the one which you should choose if you are looking for enjoyment. This is because of the fact that it has the longest vertical ski drop in France and it is about 2500 meters long.

France also has the highest ski resort in Europe. It is the Val Thorans ski resort located not less than 2300 meters above the sea level and located in the west of Maryville. Alpe d’Heuz is the longest skiing trail in France and it is 16 kms long.

The French Alps is known for the most expensive and the most popular ski resorts in France. Ski resorts in the three Valleys of Courchevel, Meribel and Val Thorens in the French Alps are furnished with good equipments and they are popular too for skiing.

A few high altitude ski resorts in France cater to the needs of the enthusiasts who take pleasure in cross country skiing, snowboarding and downhill skiing. Instructors in snowboarding are also available to impart lessons and there are snowboarding ramps as well.

A little affordable and less crowded than the ski resorts in the French Alps are Les Arcs and Alpe d’Huez which have plentiful powdery snow, long wide-ranging ski runs as well as excellent off piste skiing. All in all these places make a good destination for a skiing holiday in France.

A lot of the French ski resorts remain closed in summer but some resorts near glaciers are open all through the year. The largest glacier skiing resort can be seen in France.

In surface area this glacier expands about 200 hectares with its ski resorts and it is right in Les Deuz of Ecrines National Park.

Alternative ski resorts though smaller ones can be seen in the Pyrenees Mountains and the Massif Central. They are fitting to the likes of beginners and intermediate skiing fans who are at ease there than in the crowded ski trails of the French Alps.

National holidays in France that occur during the winter provide a good opportunity for locals to go skiing.

SNCF is the train company owned by the government in France and it offers train travel at affordable prices thereby making train travel in France a wonderful and joyful experience.

SNCF or the Sociate Nationale de Chemins de Fer takes the responsibility of maintaining the train services in France. It is because of its work that train travel in France is efficient. This company is nicely subsidized by the French government. The high speed TGV train runs largely due to the funding provided by the government.

The network of trains in France is extensive and reaches almost all over the country. The only drawback is however that because the railway network in France is designed around Paris, you often have to go through Paris even when travelling between two regional towns.

All main railway lines start from Paris and reach almost all the places in France. There are six main railway stations in France and Paris happens to be the changing venue for most of the other destinations.

Train network in France is mainly electric in nature and more than 80% of the trains in France run on electricity.

Details about train times and train tickets in France can be obtained from the ticket window, or guichet, of any staffed train station in France.

A travel guide known as guide regionale des transports is issued by the local government for the convenience of the travellers who tour France. A leaflet called horaire is also distributed free at main railway stations in France for the benefit of the tourists.

Major railway stations in France have luggage offices where you can leave your luggage and bicycles for a day.

A three day storage space is also available in major railway stations in France in the form of computerized lockers which are called consigne automatique. Pay the fee and enter the lock code to use the locker.

Travelling by train in France is on the whole a pleasant experience.

Though Italy remains a popular holiday destination for many, it is surprising to learn that only a small number of these are taken by the coast. With such a wealth of wonderful destinations however, perhaps it is time to discover the beauty of beach holidays in Italy.

One beach resort that has always been a magnet for holidaymakers is Sardinia. Widely accepted as having some of the most amazing sands and sea throughout the Mediterranean, the high quality villas and hotels that serve the area are in good supply.

Another popular destination, though not for its beaches, is Tuscany. However, set in the breathtaking region of Monte Argentario lie some amazing beaches which just beckon visitors to relax.

Here in particular there are some wonderful private villas which can be rented for days or weeks at a time. Though the sea waters are inviting, the appeal of a private pool to relax in through the day or night is always welcome. Other great destinations include the beaches in Gallipoli and Sicily, where Syracuse is a always welcoming.

There is so much more to Sicily however, and not far off the coast are the Egadi Islands. The seafood here is unsurprisingly superb; given the clarity and rich blue-green of the waters on its shore.

For a full on beach experience, Viareggio on the western coast has amazingly decadent seafront hotels. Whilst to the east Rimini is a place to head to for those full of the party spirit, though there is also a lot to offer for those looking for culture and tradition.

Holidays in Italy are always going to be a draw; such is the beauty and appeal of the culture, the people and the food. That all this can be enjoyed set amongst stunning beach locations makes it all the better.

Thomson Holidays 2010 offer great value holidays around the popular Mediterranean destinations. Find your ideal holiday with tips and advice from Craig Walker of travel web site Travel Bites.

France is one of the most favoured countries in the world when it comes to skiing.France boasts of more than 40 ski resorts that are fully equipped and some of these resorts are open throughout the year.

There are six mountain ranges in France for the skiing fan to ski about. One can find ski resorts in the Alps, the Jura Mountains, the Vosges Mountains, the Massif Central Mountains and on the peaks of Corsica.

There are variations in weather conditions in France and snow conditions in these mountain ranges as well and hence a choice has to be made concerning the skiing resort by the skiing enthusiast.

January and February are the two months cut out for skiing in France. February attracts even more skiing enthusiasts for in France school holidays fall in that month and so the ski resorts fill up to brim.

Otherwise, the general skiing season in France can be said to run from December to March or April, depending mainly on the altitude of the ski resort you take your holiday at. The higher the altitude of the resort, the later in the year the snow will stay on the ground.

Downhill skiing in France is much more popular than cross country skiing; however, it is also more costly. Although prices vary between ski resorts in France, if you intend on a downhill skiing holiday you have to consider equipment rental, lift passes, lodging in crowded resorts and aprs ski activities.

Cross country skiing in France works out a lot cheaper and there are some superb cross country skiing runs in France.

High altitude cross country skiing does not offer more enjoyment than the one done in the valleys.

The most preferred resorts for cross country skiing in France are the Les Grande Bornand and La Clusaz nearby Annecy where ski trail runs in excess of 200 kms. Trails found in the Jura range and Metabief are the other ones used for skiing.

If one wants to take a vacation that will be memorable for a lifetime, China is one of the most popular sites today. Open and welcoming, they offer much in the way of oriental elegance and history which inspires many. With the oldest recorded history in the world, the city of Xian provides a unique look into China’s early years and the ten dynasties which ruled for 1,100 years. With the right Xian Apartment Accommodation, the most frequented sites in the area are easily accessible and ensure family needs are met during down time.

Upon arrival from the Xianyang International Airport, the first thing that comes into view as one reaches the metropolis is the only city walls left intact in China. Based near the Hua Mountain range in the Yellow River Basin in Northwest Central China, this area experiences extreme temperatures and weather throughout the year. The city, contained within the walls, is easy to navigate with only four main streets making finding accessible lodging extremely easy. What one finds after checking in is a mix between the peace and tranquility China is well-known for as well as an activity base that rivals any large city.

This particular area is so packed with arts, culture, history, and science that taking it all in during one visit is extremely difficult. Many museums and cultural centers house information on the region that altered their growth and impacted the rest of the world. Whether one chooses to stroll via Mosque Square to Grand Mosque, Visit the enormous Big Wild Goose Pagoda, meditate at the Famen Temple, or take advantage of numerous bargains available at Western Market which was the eastern entry on the Silk Road, one can stay busy from dawn to dusk.

As the home of numerous dynasties beginning in 221 BC, Xian is also home to the 8th Wonder of the World, the 8,000 life-size Terracotta Soldiers who continue to stand guard over the remains of the first emperor of China. Hand carved in the form of archers, foot soldiers, horsemen, and charioteers their unique design and coloring denote the care with which they were created. Additionally, their horses, which were carved to perfection, make one feel as if they are amongst an army ready to battle in order to ensure their leaders arrival in the great beyond.

One key to enjoying this exciting area is to find the right lodging which is reflective of the best that China has to offer yet is up-to-date and high tech. Fortunately, apartments offer many amenities not available in hotels such as kitchenettes, as well as the high tech equipment needed to ensure that one remains connected to the world. Additionally, some ever offer the use of cell phones in order to stay in touch with management should one become confused as how to get back to where they are staying.

For those who are adventurous at heart, don’t let Xian’s tranquil nature fool you. A mere 75 miles (120 km) from the city center lies the Hua Mountains, also known as the flower mountains, boasts the most challenging terrain in the world frequented by hikers. Not only magnificent to view, it also includes dirt paths, stone stairways, and foot-wide plank walkways and ladders attached to sheer cliffs. For those who want to enjoy the site, but who do not have the ability to traverse the challenging terrain, however, a cable car also runs up the mountain reaching the lowest viewing level at Cloud Terrace Peak so all can enjoy the experience. It is here where the Jade Spring Temple is located along with the Long Corridor of 72-Windows and serves as the portal to the most challenging experience beginning with the 370 step rocks which is considered to give the most breath-taking view of Mt. Huashan.

For those with the stamina to endure the 4 to 6 hour traverse up Lotus Peak on Mt. Huashan, one can catch a gondola which will take visitors across the deep valley to the highest viewing point on the mountain at Landing Wild Goose Peak where, if climbing during the night, visitors can catch a view of the sunrise that will take the breath away. However, even if just going to viewing from the base, it is well worth the trip.

For those visiting this major city they can be assured that a Xian Apartment Accommodation along with modern transportation well keep travelers well-connected not only with activities and events housed within the city, but also with other major cities throughout China. Buses, subways, bikes, frequent flights, and the famous Bullet Train all make sure that China’s most important relics and features that reflect its customs, art, culture, music, and especially its history are easily accessible making any visit a once in a lifetime adventure.

With the right Xian Apartments and Xian Guesthouse accommodation, a person can be sure that they not only have access to a largest variety of cultural activities, but is centered amongst the most exciting action.

Need a cheap place to retire? Your Social Security check may give you a lifestyle in Mexico that you cannot duplicate in the US. You should take a look at south of the border retirement living.

That’s right you can live quite well retiring in Mexico on $1,000 to $2,000 per month. If you speak a little Spanish it will be cheaper…you can live anywhere you choose. More if you need to be surrounded by lots of fellow gringo retirees. Your choice.

A plus when retiring to Mexico is health care insurance …it is cheap, $270 a year, and adequate. Why so cheap?…few lawsuits. Even the Canadians who have free health care use this system…no ling waits for procedures they need. This insurance is comprehensive and provides good care.

And ladies this monthly figure of $2,000 a month or less includes a maid and or gardener. Retire to Mexico and you may have done your last ironing. Is your cheap places to retire list growing?

Think you will not have familiar stores to shop at when you retire to Mexico? At present there are 31 Costcos and 98 Wal-Marts in Mexico. The Mexican market is good for these retailers and good for you.

Retiring to Mexico means choosing the climate you enjoy. You know about the beach resorts like Cancun and Cozumel…what many are not aware of is the spring like temperatures in Central Mexico. It is far enough south to be warm and has the elevation in the interior to be moderate. It is up to you to decide.

How about safety in Mexico? The Mexican people are hard working, family oriented and welcome visitors and retirees. You can walk to the town square in the evening without fear of harm. Statistics show you are three times more likely to be a victim of violent crime in the US vs Mexico. Border towns where drug violence is present is the exception…but you would not want to retire there anyway.

So Mexico sounds good as a cheap place to retire. If you agree then you should get the latest up to date information on exactly where to retire and what to expect. This information is available on a monthly basis and is updated…along with more specific reports on housing, etc…constantly. It is the place to start if Mexico appeals to you as a retirement location.

Obtain the up-to-date Mexican retirement information. It is filled with the stories of people retired in Mexico today. Gary Pierce freely shares his experiences on frugal retirement living. Do not quit on retirement until you got to this site.
